A Berner that loves his SNOW!

So I made my second blog post for the day like I said I would... yay!  Our first big snow for 2011.  It started around dinner time and I was happy to be cuddled up on my sofa with some hot chocolate while watching it through our sun room... that was until Arthur decided he wanted to play in it.  The snow is the soft, light, and wet kind good for making snowmen.  Hopefully we can make one tomorrow.  Arthur had a better idea of what the snow was this time and loves it!  Here's some cute shots of him.  The first picture is Arthur telling me to come outside with his sad puppy dog eyes.

Snow Sprinkles

Today, when I walked Arthur for the second time I noticed the "snow sprinkles".  It looks like someone had a giant bottle of snowflake shaped sugar sprinkles and dusted our house and cars like a sugar cookie or cupcake.  I quickly grabbed my camera to capture these cute shapes made of ice.  In a few hours they will either be melted or covered by the 1 - 4 inches of snow that we are suppose to get.  I'll be blogging again later today since I didn't blog yesterday.  I think Arthur is going to get a real kick out of the snow so I'm sure to get some cute shots. "Then again I've taken so many cute shots of him... how can you not... you know?"

Sunday

My backyard Wildlife.

Since moving to our new home that is tucked back in the woods the wildlife we have seen is beautiful.  I was inspired by a friends photography to get out there and snap some photos.  We have a family of nine deer that regularly visit us.  We haven't seen them in the past week so I'm guessing they are hibernating now.  We had a ton of birds but, I only captured the Woodpecker.  In the Spring I will hopefully get some great shots of the birds.  Hopefully Arthur doesn't scare away the deer since he'll be pretty big in the Spring but, than again that will help my flower gardens and veggie garden I plan on planting.  Hmmm

Two NEW chairs for your next photo session!

As I'm getting the studio together I wanted to show two new chairs I purchased.  They have a lot of character to them and will make a great accent in your next photo session.  I think girls of all ages will like these chairs!  I shot these photos yesterday out in my yard.  Let me know if you want to use them in your next photo shoot!

Organic Bloom Frames

Presentation is everything, and these amazing frames are a great way to show off your beautiful photos!  I am pleased to announce that starting January 2011, I will be offering these frames. I have found a company that offers wooden frames that will compliment my photography in such a beautiful way.  I am SO happy to introduce a very fun, unique and beautiful line of frames from The Organic Bloom. ( www.theorganicbloom.com

I ordered 10 frames for my new studio walls and can’t wait for them to come in!  I chose a variety of colors and mixed them with 8x10's and two 10x10's with two of them being double stacked.  With so many colors and styles to choose from the possibilities are endless!

The Organic Bloom has many shapes, styles, and colors to make every frame absolutely perfect for your home. Each frame is custom built, and you can only order these through a professional photographer since they do not sell to the general public. There are so many options available to you, and you can create a beautiful work of art by adding one of your photos to a frame by creating them with the use of stacking. You can get a single frame, a double stack, or a twin double stack.
I am extremely happy with the look and style of these frames, I want to share them with you!  So here are the details:
  1. All you have to do is leave a comment on this blog post telling me why you should be chosen as the winner!  It’s that simple!  Becoming a follower increases you chances to win as well.  One winner will be randomly drawn to win an 8X10 frame of your choice in either the single frame style, or the double stack style, and you get to choose the colors!  There are so many colors available, and the possibilities are endless when combining them.  This is my way of thanking you for making 2010 such a wonderful year for Photography by Takisha.  A winner will be drawn on February 1, 2011!
  2. You can also double your chances of winning if you “like” my Facebook fan page, as well as post something on your own Facebook wall telling everyone to come view and "like" my page. Be sure to use the link  Facebook fan page so that your friends can click on the link to go straight to my page, and tell them to enter the contest too!
You pick the style you want, and choose between a single frame or a double stack! Then you pick your color(s). All you have to do is comment on this blog post! So what are you waiting for? Please note that this is only available to my 2010 clients (the Facebook Option is available to everyone).

Happy New Year... it's going to be another great one!

2011 is going to be a great year for Photography by Takisha!  I plan on growing the business by expanding my marketing and by continuing to attend different conferences and conventions to expand my knowledge and love of photography.  I'm in the process of organizing my new home studio, which is only steps away from the house.  I'm so excited to open the doors and welcome my clients old and new. I feel they will really benefit from my new props, technology, and partnerships I have formed over the last few months.  These additions will prove helpful to all of my new clients and/or prospects.  Since the studio is home based, consultations and shoots are by appointment only.  Our property is quite pretty and full of charm and character (I really love this place if you couldn't tell already).  We can capture beautiful photos both inside or out! I am available for home appointments or at a location of your choosing.  Here's to a GREAT 2011!

On a personal note I received the best Christmas present ever... my new puppy "King Arthur"!  He is a nine week Bernese Mountain dog and is sweet as can be!

Midnight Madness 12/03/10

So, I'm off by a few days... just switch the "3" and the "0" and it's all good... ha ha ha  This is what happens when you move in December!  On the third my husband and I took a stroll down to Historic Ellicott City after I finished a family photo session at the new home studio... which happens to be just up the road from Main Street.  It was a cold night, but we grab a hot latte and started our journey.  We both got some great shots.  My husband is becoming quite the photographer himself!  We really tried to capture the holiday sprite of the shop's window displays.  The sidewalks were busy and everyone was in the holiday sprite.   Enjoy, and if you've never been try making it down next year!

12/21/10 The Lunar Eclipse

At 1:15 this morning my husband and I went outside to see the beautiful Lunar Eclipse.  We set the timer and went out every 15 minutes till 4 am!  These photos were  not altered just straight from the camera.  It was worth the snow and freezing temperatures to capture these breath taking images.  When the Eclipse comes around again in 3 years, it will be interesting to see how my work has progressed.  Here are a few of my favorite shots.  Enjoy the slide show and I'd love to hear feedback on these photos.

The last photo was taken the night before and I just love it so I had to add it!

Holiday Session in the New Studio

Last night I shot my first session in my new home studio.  We have barley moved in so photos and video will follow once I'm done creating the space.  Melissa brought her family out in this very cold December night and we captured some great shots.  I went to high school with Melissa and the power of "facebook" reconnected us.  I loved that she picked the color purple (it is my favorite) it really looked great on all of them!  Her daughter wants to become a photographer and had some great ideas for poses.
