Facebook wouldn't let me just change the name from "Photography by Takisha" to "Willow Works Studio" since I had over 100 FANS (455 to be exact... lol).  I hope I get everyone back as well as new ones.  Please click the "Like" tab on FB if you enjoy my work.  It's only going to get BIGGER and BETTER from here!
A big "THANK YOU" to all my clients and supporters for helping make my dreams a reality.  My biggest one being my husband.  The growth in the business in the past three years has been awesome given the circumstances.  Come May, I will have been doing photography full time for one year.  To celebrate this wonderful milestone,  I will be having a little party at the studio (that's another post down the road)! I look forward to seeing you there!

I'd like to annouce... Willow Works Studio

I am very excited to announce a BIG change to Photography by Takisha.  We will now be known as Willow Works Studio.  The name isn't the only thing changing.  We are done being lumped in with all the other professional and semi professional photographers out there.  Gone are the same old stale ideas that you have known through your photography needs.  In are fresh ideas and attitudes that are sure to please the most discerning of clients.  We have a centrally located studio just outside the historic district of Ellicott City.  This will offer convenience, privacy, and terrific backgrounds that are just a stones throw away.  Offering "outside the box" photography as well as traditional methods.  With the new studio I have grown my prop and backdrop collection considerably for all your photo needs.  For truly unique photographs!

Willow Works Studio is modern art photography.  You will start seeing more changes on the website, blog, and facebook.  For those of you that sill have price lists or referral cards from Photography by Takisha I will still be honoring them.  Anyone going to the old website will be directed to the new one.

This is a peek at the new logo.  What do you think?

Thursday

Masquerade

Sunday night my friend Lauren (hair & makeup artist) came by with her friend Charlotte.  We let our imagination take the lead in these photos.  Lauren and I think a lot alike so it's great working with her.  We plan on having more sessions together in the future.   This will allow us to explore our creative sides and think outside of the box... there are no boundaries!  We both have a love for high fashion and the avant-garde.  Our next sessions will take place in the woods with my wedding dress.

These shoots will allow future clients to get ideas for their sessions.  Lauren is also available to do your hair and/or makeup for our shoot, with enough notice.

Lost LOVE

I was lucky to learn about Faith and Angelo's romantic love story.  They were high school sweethearts who's lives had to go down different roads than planned.  Many years later and with the power of facebook they were able to reignite their love for one another!  I had the pleasure of photographing Faith and Angelo on a very snowy Saturday.  After back to back snow storms and freezing rain, it was quite an adventure wondering the streets of historic Ellicott City and trying not to slip on the many ice patches.  We managed and were able to capture some truly charming photos.  Here are just a few of them.

This shot was taken outside of the studio on my new bench!

Saturday

Winter Wonderland

With another big winter storm passing through and two storms in one day, we found ourselves left with 12 inches of snow on Wednesday.   We had a mix of snow, rain, thunder, and lighting all at once!  These photos were taken around the house since we were pretty snowed in.  We were lucky that we didn't lose our power.  You can see in some of the photos how dangerously low our power lines got.  We also had a lot of broken tree branches.  As you can see my new Bernese mountain puppy, Arthur is my new muse.  I decided to put all the nature photos in a slide show and showcase his photos... otherwise this post would have been really long!  All the photos in the slide show are untouched.

BOB

This is Bob.  Some of you may know him.  If you have ever gone to "Caplan's" down in Old Ellicott City you've probably seen him.  He's a huge Mancoon, so he's kind of hard to miss.  He is a lovable gentle giant and just lounges around the store!  Sadly, he has to find a new home since Caplan's is closing it's doors after 23 years on Main St.  My friend Shelley is heartbroken at both the closing of the store and having to find Bob a new home.  He gets along with her two giant Bernese mountain dogs but not her other cats.  Bob and Caplan's will be missed!
I'm surprising her with these photos on her last day (today).

Monday

Sweet as HONEY

My brother and his girlfriend added to their boxer family with this little 8 week old boxer puppy.  She was as sweet as can be and her name is Honey.

Friday

Second photographer!

This afternoon after several hours of editing photos, I realized I needed to take a break.  My husband and I pulled out my collection of old cameras and shot some photos.  They were all shot right outside of my studio at the old hen house on our property.  Besides it being utterly freezing outside it was fun!  I believe I only showed how cold I was in one of them when the wind blew the snow around.  I also had to put my jacket on for a few of them.  We were only out their for maybe 15 minutes but, when we came in my hands were on fire!  You can't get that kind of wake up call with any kind of caffeine drink!

I can now update my profile pictures with these great shots.  Since I've been with my husband (almost 5 years now) I've been teaching him how to take pictures (my way).  This was a man who when asked to take a picture you would mostly get the ceiling... lol  As you can see he's gotten quiet good.  I know it's a lot of photos of myself but, I'm really proud of his work.

After planning out the shoot together, and my editing I'm really happy with how they turned out.  I wanted to use different techniques on each photo.  Since they're photos of me, I have a little more freedom and can play around more than usual.  My husband and I have always worked well together and that's why soon I will be adding him as a second photographer with my wedding packages.

Please let us know what you think of them!
