Family Holiday Session at the Studio

Today, I had the pleasure of taking my friends family holiday photos.  This was there forth session with me over the past two years.  I've captured their little girl since she was a month old.  This was the first time I shot their new baby boy and he reminds me so much of his sister at the same age.

She was really excited about the Christmas tree costume in the beginning but, since we waited till the end to put it on she wasn't to happy about the anymore but, I like the expression I captured!

Mini Holiday Session on the Farm

Yesterday, I met up with an old colleague for a photo shoot.  I finally got a chance to meet her charming family.  Her 3 1/2 year old twin boys were adorable and so well behaved.  They just loved the farm!  I don't think I have ever heard "CHEESE" so many times in one day!  We were lucky that it was a beautiful day on the farm.  The sun was out and the temperature was just right.   Even though the leaves had fallen from the trees we still were able to capture these beautiful photos.  I am really happy with the way they turned out, I hope you enjoy them as well! I'm going to start posting my photos in my teasers.

Harvest Moon prints for sale

October 25, 2010 was a clear night with a bright and beautiful harvest moon lighting up the sky.  I grabbed my camera and started shooting!  I could have taken pictures all night long.  A few of you have asked about purchasing the photos from the harvest moon collection so, I put them on Pictage for anyone to purchase.  They truly are magical photos.  Most are untouched while a few I added a little extra sparkle to.     I really hope you enjoy the slide show.

Farmer's Market

Enjoy these photos I captured today.
Today, my husband and I got up early and participated in our first Farmer's Market in Old Ellicott City.  It's a unique Farmer Market on the Courtyards of Tonge Row behind the old Stone Post Office and off the large public parking lot. Julian from "Mat About You" suggested I take part in this back at the Fall Festival and provide me with the spot and a tent.  He is a wonderful guy and I'm glad to have met him.  This was the last one for the season and we were lucky enough to have beautiful weather.  It did get a little chilly later in the day when the sun would hide behind the clouds but, it was nice to say the least.  In our corner it seemed to be the party spot for the all the dogs and it really made me miss my little teacup pom Belle.

Since, I wasn't sure of what to expect, I brought a few products and just focused on getting my name out there.  I met a lot of great people and several potential clients.  I promoted my holiday specials and I made these cute peppermint candy pouches to hand out.  I raffled off a $25.00 coupon good towards any photo purchase.  I brought two of my holiday flower accessories from my Whimsical Couture collection and was able to spread the word about that shop as well.  When my husband ran back to the house I was able to sneak over to Steve's yard sale and made a great purchase!  I bought a corner hutch that has lighting on every shelf.  I think it will be a great fit in my new studio.  "Yes I said a NEW STUDIO!  That's for another post in the near future." Steve is one of the owners of a fabulous store called "The Good Life Market" http://www.thegoodlifemarket.us/

The season picks up again in April and I can't wait.  I also made a great connection with Julian the owner  of "Mat About You".   We may partner together on some upcoming projects. It's a wonderful fine art gallery and framing studio.  http://www.mataboutyou.com/  I'll keep everyone posted!

This whimsical set of three floral hair pins are the perfect thing when you need a little "something blue" to complete your look on your wedding day.  They are blue rosebuds with a lighter blueish green inner bloom and a blue swarovski crystal center. Whimsical Couture by MissShutterbug

Just this month I decided to open my own Etsy shop!  Like I didn't have enough on my plate already... but, I love crafting!  I have been creating trendy and fashionable accessories for friends and family for years.  I recently designed and  made most of the accessories for my wedding.  I find it to be a stress reliever making these items and I figured why not try to sell them.  My shop is called Whimsical Couture!  You will find handmade treasures created with love and joy.  I can also do special orders and requests, just send me a note.    Some items I make I keep to use as props for photo sessions, they always give the picture that extra little spark.  That's why I'm putting this on this blog.  If you see an item you want for your session you can ask me to make you a custom piece or buy one at the shop!

A sample of one of my items:

Baby Headband with 2 Ranunculus rhinestone flowers

This brown crocheted headband is the perfect touch to add the extra pizazz to your baby’s outfit. It also would be great used in a photo session. Giving your photo that perfect finishing touch. I used a brown soft stretchy crocheted headband and two 2 1/2” burnt red with golden accent Ranunculus flowers and .75 ” rhinestones. This crocheted headband measure approximately 2" wide. This headband is soft and stretchy and will fit most newborns through pre-teen girls.

This would be so cute on a flower girl!

A family session at home.

Today I had the pleasure of shooting a family session at the home of my client.  It was a beautiful drive to their house and they were great to work with.  They won this package at a middle school charity auction.  They are a close knit family who enjoy time together and playing sports.  We were lucky that the rain decided to stay away and the sun was shinning, it was a little chilly out but, we got some nice shots!
