Midnight Madness 12/03/10

So, I'm off by a few days... just switch the "3" and the "0" and it's all good... ha ha ha  This is what happens when you move in December!  On the third my husband and I took a stroll down to Historic Ellicott City after I finished a family photo session at the new home studio... which happens to be just up the road from Main Street.  It was a cold night, but we grab a hot latte and started our journey.  We both got some great shots.  My husband is becoming quite the photographer himself!  We really tried to capture the holiday sprite of the shop's window displays.  The sidewalks were busy and everyone was in the holiday sprite.   Enjoy, and if you've never been try making it down next year!

12/21/10 The Lunar Eclipse

At 1:15 this morning my husband and I went outside to see the beautiful Lunar Eclipse.  We set the timer and went out every 15 minutes till 4 am!  These photos were  not altered just straight from the camera.  It was worth the snow and freezing temperatures to capture these breath taking images.  When the Eclipse comes around again in 3 years, it will be interesting to see how my work has progressed.  Here are a few of my favorite shots.  Enjoy the slide show and I'd love to hear feedback on these photos.

The last photo was taken the night before and I just love it so I had to add it!

Holiday Session in the New Studio

Last night I shot my first session in my new home studio.  We have barley moved in so photos and video will follow once I'm done creating the space.  Melissa brought her family out in this very cold December night and we captured some great shots.  I went to high school with Melissa and the power of "facebook" reconnected us.  I loved that she picked the color purple (it is my favorite) it really looked great on all of them!  Her daughter wants to become a photographer and had some great ideas for poses.

Wednesday

Family Holiday Session at the Studio

Today, I had the pleasure of taking my friends family holiday photos.  This was there forth session with me over the past two years.  I've captured their little girl since she was a month old.  This was the first time I shot their new baby boy and he reminds me so much of his sister at the same age.

She was really excited about the Christmas tree costume in the beginning but, since we waited till the end to put it on she wasn't to happy about the anymore but, I like the expression I captured!

Monday

Mini Holiday Session on the Farm

Yesterday, I met up with an old colleague for a photo shoot.  I finally got a chance to meet her charming family.  Her 3 1/2 year old twin boys were adorable and so well behaved.  They just loved the farm!  I don't think I have ever heard "CHEESE" so many times in one day!  We were lucky that it was a beautiful day on the farm.  The sun was out and the temperature was just right.   Even though the leaves had fallen from the trees we still were able to capture these beautiful photos.  I am really happy with the way they turned out, I hope you enjoy them as well! I'm going to start posting my photos in my teasers.

Harvest Moon prints for sale

October 25, 2010 was a clear night with a bright and beautiful harvest moon lighting up the sky.  I grabbed my camera and started shooting!  I could have taken pictures all night long.  A few of you have asked about purchasing the photos from the harvest moon collection so, I put them on Pictage for anyone to purchase.  They truly are magical photos.  Most are untouched while a few I added a little extra sparkle to.     I really hope you enjoy the slide show.

Sunday

Farmer's Market

Enjoy these photos I captured today.
Today, my husband and I got up early and participated in our first Farmer's Market in Old Ellicott City.  It's a unique Farmer Market on the Courtyards of Tonge Row behind the old Stone Post Office and off the large public parking lot. Julian from "Mat About You" suggested I take part in this back at the Fall Festival and provide me with the spot and a tent.  He is a wonderful guy and I'm glad to have met him.  This was the last one for the season and we were lucky enough to have beautiful weather.  It did get a little chilly later in the day when the sun would hide behind the clouds but, it was nice to say the least.  In our corner it seemed to be the party spot for the all the dogs and it really made me miss my little teacup pom Belle.

Since, I wasn't sure of what to expect, I brought a few products and just focused on getting my name out there.  I met a lot of great people and several potential clients.  I promoted my holiday specials and I made these cute peppermint candy pouches to hand out.  I raffled off a $25.00 coupon good towards any photo purchase.  I brought two of my holiday flower accessories from my Whimsical Couture collection and was able to spread the word about that shop as well.  When my husband ran back to the house I was able to sneak over to Steve's yard sale and made a great purchase!  I bought a corner hutch that has lighting on every shelf.  I think it will be a great fit in my new studio.  "Yes I said a NEW STUDIO!  That's for another post in the near future." Steve is one of the owners of a fabulous store called "The Good Life Market" http://www.thegoodlifemarket.us/

The season picks up again in April and I can't wait.  I also made a great connection with Julian the owner  of "Mat About You".   We may partner together on some upcoming projects. It's a wonderful fine art gallery and framing studio.  http://www.mataboutyou.com/  I'll keep everyone posted!
